100 RSS Subscribers - It’s Happy Dance Time!
First a comical disclaimer - no matter what the grumpy Feedburner chiclet says on any particular time or day, it’s 102! LOL
OK then, who wants to tango!
A huge THANK YOU to all those who actually think I have something useful to give, and trust me enough in their readers and/or email boxes…a precious commodity indeed!
So I guess I’m doin’ ok, yes? Thanks! This is very good news for me as I’ve only been seriously blogging (on this blog) for a few months.
Those that have been following me for a while know the ups and downs, my losing focus more then once, changing up the blog, etc etc etc.
Now I think i really do have it where I want it and running along smoothly…as smoothly as we can that is; y’all know what I mean.
What’s coming up?
I’m glad you asked? (You know you wanted to.)
Two new blogs about to enter the burgeoning empire. My personal blog FINALLY being revived in all it’s (hopeful) glory…so that’s half new, but new to most of you I believe.
And a brand spankin’ new one, which I’m thinkin’ those that aren’t nuts will love.
This blog will also be a serious testament to finding domain names…..you won’t believe what I found open with very little effort.
Of course all (or most) of the link type love will continue on both blogs…definitely within blog comments; we’ll see what happens within posts.
A Newsletter - I’m not exactly sure when or even what it will all include as I’m still tweaking my thoughts.
I’ve had one before (oh so many moons ago); kinda lame, so I’m not rushing it this time.
The last thing either of us wants is another newsletter with a super high subscribe/unsubscribe rate as you find out it’s just crap.
Well that’s about it, my feet are gettin’ tired. Thanks again to all my wonderful readers and I hope to see y’all around to the end…
Thanks for the dance!
Coming up - Knowledge Love Love, round 2; regarding RSS subscriptions.
Never stop pushing forward!
Dennis

Actually I’m thinkin’ increments of 50-100 tops, I’m not greedy and a lot less depression if it takes a little longer then expected.

Congrats on the magic 100, Dennis. Truth be told, I have no idea how many people subscribe to my blog. I didn’t hook up with Feedburner until April or May of this year, and I’ve been writing at least my main blog for a long while, so I don’t know if it goes back to find people who might have subscribed to the straight RSS or not, though I’m thinking not. Good for you.

hi Dennis,
I tried commenting before to ask a question and it didn’t work, so I’ll give it another shot…
Do you know, does having lots of subscribers effect your rankings, or have other benefits (besides the obvious satisfaction of having readers and the traffic they bring)?
~ Steve
PS. Congrats on 100. It was 107 yesterday, and is 107 today…

Hey Steve, welcome!
Absolutely beneficial, it is a main factor is what you can potentially charge advertisers…this is one of the main reasons some unfortunately artificially fake the count by several thousand…or more.
If you mean search engine type rankings, I doubt it…unless you include the “comment content” your readers produce. That counts also.
November 10th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
Hi Dennis,
Thanks for your comment (approved, by the way!), and thanks for your answer on subscribers. I was having problem with the RSS thing when I was setting up my blog (along with a bunch of other things) that I’m dealing with as I have time. I’ll have to get it working.
Good point on the comment content. I do think some people miss the value of comments for their “free content” that is added to the post (when the comment actually ADDS content). I’ve found a post or two in a google search based only on the comment text.

Thanks Steve!
That certainly is something people miss. Not just the free content aspect either…I’ve said many times that good comments are often times better then the post itself!
Plus, I can’t count how many times I’ve constructed whole other posts just out of someones comment.
Btw, hows about popping in a subscribe to comments plugin over at your place.

Hey Dennis,
I can see that the number is increasing, so good job man. But I can never understand how the number goes like a yoyo for me. It just goes up and down and up even within a day or 2. You have a theory into this?

Peter - Yep, that’s all Feedburner. The best explanation I’ve heard so far….. the number shown is how many people actually opened there feeds that day.
Something like that.
Hell, the day after mine hit 108, it showed 66. LOL
November 14th, 2008 at 6:31 pm

Course, the numbers will fluctuate but congrats on hitting 100!

No worries friend, that’s most likely feedburner being fickle, not your readers.
I was at 116 yesterday, 69 today….it does that.
