Are You Able To Focus & Take Action? A 5-Step Plan That WORKS.
You see People all over the net frequently asking the same questions:
How to get going on their business, how they can make money online or what products they should sell. Etc, etc.
You can only answer those questions to a certain point; at least with most, unless you get really involved with them.
Most don’t have time for this, unless perhaps you charge for coaching.
You don’t know their experience level. You don’t know what they may have already tried and how much effort they put into it, or what they did right or wrong with it, and so on.
One thing is for sure, many of them need to FOCUS on doing one thing at a time and then TAKE ACTION instead of being indecisive.
Otherwise they’ll end up frustrated and get nowhere, which unfortunately, we see that much too often online.
The following is a step-by-step method (in a nutshell) to get yourself going. I received this in an email, and it is so oversimplified, that it’s utterly perfect.
You’ll see what I mean, as I left it completely as is:
1. Choose a product to sell or create your own. Internet marketers think Affiliate marketing, Direct Sales, pick ONE from your catalog.
2. Choose a method for promoting that product, whether it’s article marketing, classified ads, Blogging, or any other method you choose, but pick just ONE for now.
3. Promote your product via the method you choose until you see results, even if the results are slow at first.
Then keep doing what you’re doing to bring more traffic and sales. In other words, write more articles, place more ads or add more posts to your blog.
Don’t overdue that last one, no one likes to see blogs chuck full of ads.
Note: if you don’t get any traffic after a few days of heavily promoting then something isn’t right.
Take a look at your method and tweak your article title, headline or classified ad copy. (Or whatever applies to your method.)
Note: if you get traffic, but no sales then you need to check out your offer. Do you have real targeted traffic? Is the price right?
Find out what similar products in your niche sell for and change the price if necessary.
4. Once you get some results using the above method, start promoting using another method.
I don’t mean to quit using the first method, though. I mean use TWO methods at one time. (For instance, write articles AND post to your blog.)
When you’re seeing results from method #2, start a 3rd method, and so on.
5. After you’ve got product #1 going well, repeat steps 1-4 with another product.
Now like I said, that’s a bit over-simplified. However, aside from maybe having to study a method (step 2), that’s really all there is to it.
If you don’t FOCUS and TAKE ACTION you’ll resemble a hamster in a wheel for ever.
Simple as that.
———————————-
I’ve done exactly this and can say first hand that it works like gangbusters!
You could say my “product” was/is more connections and subscribers…
You may have noticed that I’ve been blog commenting like a nut-job for the past month or more. LOL
I’ve found more friends, connections and RSS subscribers (over 100 and steadily rising) in this short time, then the whole time I’ve been blogging…or even online.
Now it’s time for me to move to step 4…..
So tell me, are YOU focused or a hamster like Jack? Do you need help, or have further tips to share?
We’d all love to know.
Never stop pushing forward!
Dennis

Good advice there - I haven’t actually started promoting a product yet, but really need to get stuck into, and as been said - TAKE ACTION, lol.

LOL.the only action that I have taken to promote a product is to blog about it and put a link in the sidebar. Should work more on it though. to ensure I get $$ from it.

I love step-by-step plans … I need to look at what I’ve been doing and see if there’s a method to my madness or if I’m just throwing stuff out ther to see what sticks. This will give me a guideline to use to review my actions. Thanks! *SmiLes* Suzanne

Focus is always the best thing, Dennis, and at times I feel I have great focus, and at other times I feel like I’m all over the place. But one has to determine what their true focus is going to be, then head in that direction. Right now, I’m heading in the right direction, but I might be doing 35 on a 55 road.

Go for it Dan! LOL I look forward to your first product promo.

I gotta tell ya Suzanne, sometimes “seeing what sticks” produces the greatest work!
Glad I could help.

Dominique - A great way to start a promotion, especially if you have a decent subscriber base. Ya just gotta try to back it up with multiple other ways.

This is totally my style, and I’ve written a couple “super simple” posts myself to help get people started. You know, these steps may “seem” oversimplified, but in the big scheme of things, this is the basics of what you need to do. People are often so overwhelmed with info and choices and that they over think and over analyze everything and never actually get started.
Excellent advice.
Cheers!

Whoa, 107 and still rising! You’re totally right about focus, especially in the Make Money Online niche. There’s such an information overload that there’s a real danger you’ll try all kinds of stuff but not follow through long enough to see results - so you think a particular technique doesn’t work when in fact it does. But you need to also understand WHY you’re doing a particular action, rather than just “cos everyone else is”.

What’s up J! You’re so right my man and I am the king of over-analization if I let it take control. LOL
Since this blog is all about simplification, everything I do help me to help others…if that makes sense.
If you ever feel like guest posting some of your “super simple get started” ideas, please let me know.

Hey Rodney, actually it’s 108 but Feedburner is just a little off this time (it showed 66 a couple days ago) LOL.
Thankfully I’m not in the MMO niche (although I do have a category) but your comment can pretty much cover ANYTHING ON THE NET
“so you think a particular technique doesn’t work when in fact it does.”
Absolutely, this is why it is so important to give each one it’s proper time and due diligence…..without of course beating a dead horse as well. It really is a fine kinda line.
“you need to also understand WHY you’re doing a particular action, rather than just “cos everyone else is”
Now this is where so many people (myself included sometimes” fall short…not everything works for everyone and you really do need to stop and think a bit about what it would mean to you…
Again, watching carefully not to OVER-analyze it to death.
November 9th, 2008 at 10:11 am
I always advised on concentrated effort compared to diversified one. It yields more results than spreading your attention on a few sources. Like what you suggest Dennis, only move on when the concentrated effort on a particular action got results. Great post on this.

Dead on Wei…as you read, the first time I really learned this the hard way was 100’s of social profiles with no focus.

good post Dennis. From my experience I can tell that you may not see results of heavy promotion until 1 or 2 weeks passed. It takes time for links and comments to propage thru the web, so be patient.

Well you got me here through a comment you made at my site. hehe
Anyway your article was informative and a learned a few things from it. Even though I don’t engage in sales, there are some points that I could use.
PS.
I’ve already added your suggestions. Thanks.

Hey Rebo, welcome to the community and I’m glad I could help!
You don’t sell ANYTHING? Interesting…the online thing is just for fun?
November 9th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
I wonder how this would work if you took the first point for example and said I want to sell flat panel sony televisions and then created a blog simply about them advertising only for them.
It might be an interesting case to perform. Thanks for the idea.

Great post and so true, so true. losing focus is probably the pitfall for 90% of the people trying to make money online so seeing a simple 5 step program stripped to the necessities only is pretty cool.
No excuses left to lose focus
ps, congrats on the huge jump in rss subscribers, already noticed those numbers going steadily up the other day, almost thought for a minute you were faking them :P:P:P

Seriously though, I really don’t get those that do that…I actually ENJOY watching it grow naturally!
Now the really innovative fakers - if they’;re gonna bump it 30-40K, they should at least take some time and fake the same amount of comments. LMAO!

hey Dennis
true, it would be silly but still… I kind of noticed it going up and up slowly but steadily all of a sudden and wondered about it LOL

great post Dennis, I think often this is a major problem for many who lose track of the tasks at hand and wind up going off in different directions, especially with all the information out there it is easy to become an information junkie and stop doing the hands-on tasks necessary.

Getting focus is really the key to it. Then making a right and good action for having best result. I suggest that planning will help. But be sure that your plans are possible and you can follow it.
