In my ever vigilant effort to make a clean looking AND user-friendly Blog for everyone here, I am trying one more plugin to try and get the combination of post snippets on-site, while having full feeds go through the feed.
if you recall, I first attempted the Full Feed plugin and it was a disaster. I then thought it would just be best to change the look of the Blog a bit, and publish full posts.
Neither you nor I liked that very much.
When suddenly…..on one of my blog commenting escapades I ran across Colin King, a true geek :-). A great guy, a real swell fella; seriously.
I was conversing my woes to him and he told me of (or reminded me of) the Optional Excerpt right here in the WP ‘write’ admin. I had seen it many times of course, but never knew what it was for.
He really helped me out with a little coding that needs to be done with it, and it worked like a charm! I soon noticed one “flaw”that was unacceptable to me…whatever is written in the optional excerpt space does not get picked up via the feed…essentially saying they miss a paragraph or so of the post.
So back to the board for me…..but alas! my trusted friend and colleague Patty Gale has turned me on to the post teaser plugin (I know, I said no more plugins after the last fiasco) that she had been using forever and it does exactly what I want it to do, and then some.
So this is what I’m testing now, wish us all luck!
IF for whatever reason it does not work. IF your feed comes through as partial…please do not despair (or unsubscribe!) as I will be on it fast!
