  • Blog Comment Tip: Add A CommentLuv Link With No Plugin (sneaky!)

    Three things to not forget - Guest bloggers wanted. Top Commenter contest March. $100 Blog Improvement Review Contest.

    ——————————————-

    First things first - if you’re a daily coder type person, then this will be obvious. However if code is your nemesis (arch enemy), then you may not have known this and find it kinda cool…

    Would you like to freak out a fellow blogger who does not have the CommentLuv plugin installed on their blog? Hehehe. I was recently editing my typos on someones blog using their nifty edit comments plugin and noticed the code for my CommentLuv link:

    <abbr><em>Dennis Edell´s last blog post..<a href=”http://www.directsaleswebmarketing.com/best-blog-improvement-review-contest-1-winner-100-via-paypal/”>Best “Blog Improvement Review” Contest - 1 Winner - $100 via Paypal</a></abbr></em>

    Being one of those that is learning code slowly but surely I asked myself if this would work anywhere HTML works; as you can see, it does:

    Dennis Edell´s last blog post..Best “Blog Improvement Review” Contest - 1 Winner - $100 via Paypal

    Now imagine the gaze of wonderment and confusion on the blog admins face as he/she realizes they don’t actually have the plugin installed. Muhahahahahahaha!

    Of course assuming you’re not a spammer and you don’t want to just tick off bloggers, I advise you try it on ones that already know you ;) .

    But wait! Since you can change both the beginning test “Dennis Edell´s last blog post..” as well as the link itself, this actually could have practical advantages and uses.

    If you really do need/want to drop a link in a comment (which better be worth it), this is a lot cleaner then:

    http://www.directsaleswebmarketing.com/best-blog-improvement-review-contest-1-winner-100-via-paypal/

    plus it’s a cool alternative to the usual HTML:

    <a href=”http://www.ridiculouslylonglink.com”>This Is The Anchor Text</a>

    I already thought of one very practical use for myself, and you if you have multiple blogs. I have commentluv on all my blogs, but in order to use it to my advantage while responding to comments, I have to either log in and out or have multiple windows open (in order to see all comments and still respond using commentluv).

    Now I can be logged in from blog to blog and simply drop a post link on each blog from another one :) .

    Note1: I called this a blog comment tip and it is, but, if you’re not using it as a joke as described in the beginning, be sure to check for a comment policy before dropping a link.

    Note2: If you don’t already employ either the CommentLuv or Edit Comments Wordpress plugins, you should seriously consider them.

    Neat tip? Do you find it useful?
    Dennis

      Hey, just thought you might wanna know that your blog looks a bit messed up with Opera.

      Dennis Edell Reply:

      @Dintz, First, welcome to the community!

      Could you give specifics please? I have it open in Opera and can’t see anything wrong?

      @Alex at PPC-Coach,

      I looked in Opera itself and saw nothing wrong.

      @Dennis Edell,

      Yea, but the display may differ between versions…

      @Dennis Edell, maybe its just messing up before but are already repaired when you view it lately.

      You kind of lost me here but let me see if I have this right.

      If you are logged in, your latest post doesn’t show. Since it is your own blog it doesn’t matter. People reading will already be on you blog. However with this technique you could post the latest post from another blog.

      Just tested it on my site with a sample comment. I cut and pasted your code above and your latest post and even the little heart showed up.

      Now I can tell the world about all your latest and greatest posts. Everyone should do this, we can all promote Dennis’ latest posts.

      I guess you could also post 10 links in your comment and the blog owner would blame it on comment luv. Now that’s devious.

      Woohoo! I’d hope though people would know I meant their own link. LOL

      I guess you could also post 10 links in your comment and the blog owner would blame it on comment luv. Now that’s devious.

      Until they realized there was no box around the links like with the actual commentluv link…assuming they ever realized it. :)

      I know you have multiple blogs also, so it might be useful in the same way as me. :)

      (Of course on your next comment my commentluv will fail) LOL

      Mitch Reply:

      @Dennis Edell, You know, I’m wondering if some of our comments would then end up in spam filters because of the addition of the link. I have come across some people who never look into their spam filters.

      I’ll give you guys a good reason to check you spam filters.I checked mine on a new blog. The comment was exactly they type Mitch just spoke of in a recent post. Generic enough so that it is hard to tell if it is spam.

      I clicked through to the site and found an article of interest to me about raising money for private ventures. The site was a splog but the article came from eZinearticles and I contacted the author. I am going to use some of his content on my site and we may do business together to fund my real estate deals.

      So taking the time to check my spam filter and click through to a site has paid off in a business contact that could become quite valuable.

      If you are an entrepreneur you never know where the next opportunity will come from.

      Mitch Reply:

      @Ned Carey, That’s a good point, Ned, and thanks for the kudos. I always look at the spam in my folder because sometimes it moves comments there because it either doesn’t like the names (that’s one reason against “fake names”, which we talked about earlier), or because there’s a link within the email that someone might legitimately want you to see.

      Of course, if you used Mailwasher like I do, that helps figure some of these bad comments out also.

      @Ned Carey & Mitch -

      I’m a big advocate for checking the filter for the reason Mitch gave…Akismet does muck up once in a while.

      Very good point too Ned, and congrats on the contact!

      Dennis Edell Reply:

      @Mitch, There is that, yea. But you run that risk dropping any link in a comment. If it’s a joke, just let it go. If it’s still a legit link, just notify the blogger as you normally would. :)

      Mitch Reply:

      @Dennis Edell, True; just have to hope people remember to look at their spam filters. You wouldn’t believe the stuff I’ve found in there that’s legit.

      Keyword love along with comment luv r a wonderful options to add to your blog. It gives readers incentive to add relevant comments by being rewarded with a backlink.gives users motivation to post comments. Yet, content is very important to keep them coming back. In my opinion keywordluv is especially interesting as a tool to draw attention to a relatively new blog.Also noting to someone who commented. Nofollow Blogs are still useful as they still count as a link. They also genarate traffic.comment luv is also not less fasccinating
