He/She Has Unsubscribed - Should You Ask Why?

This is a post I think of writing every time I receive the following. I got one today, so I figured what the hell ;) .

I get them, you get them, we all unfortunately get them;  JaneDoe @ herdomain.com has unsubscribed from yourdomain.com - those dreaded unsubscribe notifications. It’s a simple fact of blogging life and something you really shouldn’t take personally.

Easier said then done, I know.

My question is something every blogger has asked him/herself at least once. Should I contact this person directly? Then the self conversation begins…hopefully in your head and not out loud, lol.

Was it something I said or did? Something I haven’t said or done? Did I offend? Gee whiz, if I could only find out, perhaps I could better myself and my blog each time. But but but…

When Is The Next PR Update?

If anyone knows, I’d greatly appreciate the answer below! :)

    Business Mentors, Advisers & Coaches

Here’s an article I wrote sometime ago for my original DennisEdell.com blog. Since it’s the sort of article that will always be relevant, I figured I’d resurrect it once again. C’mon now, tell us YOUR story at the end ;) .

Whatever you wish to call him/her, for the most part they are there for the same reason; to help, guide, and support you, whether for business or personal reasons.

Some that do it for a living, do have specific titles and handle specific cases or situations; but for the most part, they all want the same end result.

It can be very difficult when first starting out. Here you have this brand new business idea which you need to build upon, but where to start?

You need to network with people (online and off line depending on the business), get the word out, build traffic to your website (if you have one), think about taxes & business licenses and so on and so forth. Phew!

A Monkey Can Do Your Job!

No worries, our little contest isn’t over yet! But since my brain is currently drowning in ideas I figured a temporary distraction was in order.

Since it is traditionally hump day, I figured y’all could use a little pick me up also. This is for everyone that is or was in the “corporate world”.

Have you ever heard that expression? Or perhaps you’ve said it yourself. Either way, I found something a while ago on one of my vast virtual travels, and just HAD to share…..

Put eight monkeys in a room. In the middle of the room is a ladder, leading to a bunch of bananas hanging from a hook on the ceiling.

Each time a Monkey tries to climb the ladder, all the monkeys are sprayed with ice water, which makes them miserable.

Are You Able To Focus & Take Action? A 5-Step Plan That WORKS.

You see People all over the net frequently asking the same questions:

How to get going on their business, how they can make money online or what products they should sell. Etc, etc.

You can only answer those questions to a certain point; at least with most, unless you get really involved with them.

Most don’t have time for this, unless perhaps you charge for coaching.

You don’t know their experience level. You don’t know what they may have already tried and how much effort they put into it, or what they did right or wrong with it, and so on.

One thing is for sure, many of them need to FOCUS on doing one thing at a time and then TAKE ACTION instead of being indecisive.

Otherwise they’ll end up frustrated and get nowhere, which unfortunately, we see that much too often online.

100 RSS Subscribers - It’s Happy Dance Time!

First a comical disclaimer - no matter what the grumpy Feedburner chiclet says on any particular time or day, it’s 102! LOL

OK then, who wants to tango!

A huge THANK YOU to all those who actually think I have something useful to give, and trust me enough in their readers and/or email boxes…a precious commodity indeed!

So I guess I’m doin’ ok, yes? Thanks! This is very good news for me as I’ve only been seriously blogging (on this blog) for a few months.

Those that have been following me for a while know the ups and downs, my losing focus more then once, changing up the blog, etc etc etc.

Now I think i really do have it where I want it and running along smoothly…as smoothly as we can that is; y’all know what I mean.

    What’s coming up?

    Do You Have Good Follow-Through?

This isn’t another sales tip on how you should follow up an initial sale with a back-end off. Nope, this is more important and more personal.

Honestly, I wasn’t even going to post today; so much to do ya know.

However, I received an email today (Nov. 4th) that nearly knocked me off my seat…and a big bang that woulda been!

The following email is from Nick at romandock dot com, and that’s all the lead in it needs. Read the email and quickly see why I think Nick truly has what it takes…..

“You may or may not remember this, but on October 11 you left a comment on a post of mine inquiring about subscribing to romandock dot com via email. Well, I finally got that set up and the option is now available.

Is Your Online Reputation Solid? I hope so, It’s All You Have.

This isn’t going to be another Real name vs. Pen name post, although it surely fits as we pointed out.

(Feel free to leave thoughts there as well; it’s an interesting conversation.)

Basically, when all is said and done, most people create an online business for one purpose - to make money online. Some want to make a few extra bucks, others want to make a full-time income.

But regardless of everyones individual goals, I think you will agree that we all want to make additional income from our online businesses.

In order to do this you need to sell.

Whether it’s a product, a service or just to get someone to take a desired action - it’s all about being able to sell whatever it is your promoting.

    Are You Like Jack?

Recently, I was chatting a bit with a good friend and colleague of mine, Patty Gale. Patty and I have known each other for some time now, starting with a few forums we would frequent.

Doing the forum marketing as we do, you inevitably run into the same person time and time again…

Enter, *Jack*. He or she (Jack is Asexual) posts everywhere but never really seems to get anywhere. The sad part is, Jack really can’t understand why most of the time.

Patty wrote a cool little article about Jack, which I want to share with you now. Get to know Jack, learn from Jack, as he will teach you very important lessons in what NOT to do in business…

“Meet Jack… Jack of all Trades. He’s very good friends with Master of None. You could say they are joined at the hip.

7 Tips for Choosing a Business Name

Business NameThe very first thing you need when starting a business is, a business name. Simple right? Well, not always…

This is also many times one of the most difficult steps in a startup, believe it or not.

Your name will be the very first thing your customers see. You have to pick a name that says something about you and your business that people in your target market will identify with & remember easily.

    1. A good basic idea is to use your last name followed by what you do. Like Walton’s Feed and Supply or Anderson’s Plumbing. You could also add the town where you live in to the name like Anderson’s Little Rock Plumbing.

    2. You can also leave out your name and simply become Little Rock Feed and Supply. This makes you sound like the first choice locally and will help target your local area.
