IS An Advertising Page Really A Good Idea? An Interesting Opposing View…

Many of you know by now that I do LOTS of blog commenting. I’ve also always been a big advocate for having an advertising page if you plan to sell ads; now I’m not so sure.

While doing my own commenting I always try to read as many of the comments already there, before leaving my own. (Good advice in itself, soon to be a post as well.)

While recently reading an article entitled, Banish Low Balling Ads To Earn More With Your Blog on HowToSpotter, one of the comments really caught my eye.

Pat from Make Money Fast, wrote the following:

Only thing I’d add to this is I’ve found that with an advertise page you could be limiting yourself. For instance, Microsoft contacts you when you have an open spot and you have it listed for $35 then they can pay ten times that much. But if Joe Schmo blog finds you on the advertise page then they can only page that much.

What Is Your Favorite/The Best Affiliate Marketing Forums?

You may or may not know this, but my very first venture into the online marketing realm started in forums and quickly became my favorite. Oh yea, I became quite addicted, quite quickly; I was everywhere…..if you think I comment on many blogs, you should have seen my forum post counts all over the net.

Anyhoo, a year or two or so ago (hey that rhymed!), I became quite overwhelmed with it all. That combined with getting completely fed up with one forum altogether (yea Pete, that one), led me to abandon them completely…

…well, it’s time to go back. For the most part, they were good to me, and there’s no place like ‘em for helping others. This time though, I will do it right. One or two Internet marketing forums, one or two affiliate marketing forums, and a bunch of direct sales forums, since that is my main bread and butter as it were.

Would Even The Slightest Hint Of Porn Stop You From Advertising?

Oh did I think a few times on that headline. It’s a little long, and it could definitely lead readers to think one thing when it’s another altogether. Under the circumstances though, it gets my point across; you’ll see. I assure you, it is not referring to this or anyone of my sites :) .

If you’re over the age of 5, you’ve heard of Google (computers in kindergarten classes). If you’ve been marketing for more then 5 minutes, you’ve most likely heard of “bad neighborhoods” and the Google concern.

I think most would agree, porn is the baddest of the bad when it comes to ‘net neighborhoods. ALL in the know would also agree that a non-porn site should never link to a porn site…it’s just bad business all around, right?

As Promised Now You Can Edit Comments Too!

Woot! Here it is! Those times of screaming Oh Crrrrrap! are gone :) .

As promised when I published the arrival of threaded comments, I have just installed the WP-Ajax-Edit Comments plugin, for users of Wordpress 2.5 or higher.

A big thank you to Sire for turning me on to this one after asking him what was compatible with commentluv. He wrote a whole post about it just for little ‘ol me! (Well, and other curious readers I suppose.)

I don’t know about others, but this plugin is awesome with a whole mess of features for both users and admin. Very cool indeed.

Anyhoo, that’s enough for the plugin sales pitch, lets get down to serious business. Hehe.

We all make comment mistakes with the slap of the forehead wishing against all hope to be able to fix it. What I want to know is, do you have a usual mistake…..one or two things that you goof on CONSTANTLY.

Do Advertisers Judge You By Design? What Do You Think…

A quickie post today, but one that raises a pretty good question I think.

Mark Sierra from MeandMyDrum.com recently changed his theme design. It looks great, it really does, but it was one of his comments that really caught my attention…

BloggerContests commented, and I quote ” I think you will have more requests to display ads in your site from now on.”

Hmm, interesting. I know that’s something that I never really thought of before. I mean, I do know they look at traffic numbers, readership/subscriber numbers, etc and so forth.

But design? Really? I dunno. I’ve seen some pretty fugly blogs with some pretty serious numbers, haven’t you? (Unless of course they’re faked, which is a whole ‘nother article :-) )

What do you think. Could design attract or repel an advertiser?

    Never stop pushing forward!

Coming Soon? Yes They Are I Swear - I Need Your Advice First!

OK, this is totally my bad, and I apologies. Recently, Mirjam, one of my faithful readers pointed out the fact that the *coming soon* boxes across the top have been there, well, for quite some time to say the least.

Between being super duper busy, then my 2 month accident disappearance, then being twice as busy with current and catch-up work……….

Aye Curumba, you get the idea.

What they are going to be is a new advertising option I thought up, and I think some are really gonna jump for it.

Some might even think I’m nuts for offering it as it will give massive exposure to the advertiser(s) in a prime location, taking visitors away from my blog.

Now, this is where your advice is needed. Big Time. On top of my reasons above (or maybe because of them), I haven’t even STARTED charging for adspace yet!

Online Free Classifieds - Are They Worth It?

free classified adsfree classified adsI found the following in an old email, added a lot of my own input and thought it was pretty good. As with any free promotion though, be careful and concise. It may be free but can cost you countless amounts of time and energy if you’re not aware…

Online free classified sites offer a risk free, no cost solution to promote your businesses and sell products and services. Advertising in free classified sites can be time consuming and frustrating if you do not know how to successfully profit from these sites.

Knowing the right tricks and tips of online free classified ads will separate you from the hundreds who post thousands of ads without getting any results.

All free classified sites are not created equal. You should focus on a few good sites and post your ads regularly in those sites only. Your starting point is Google search. Go to http://google.com/ and search for “free classifieds” and “free ads“.

Free Advertising At Craigslist - Press Releases

Press ReleasePress ReleaseOpening up a new shop? Ready to launch your website? Got a big fundraiser in the works that you’d like to announce? Press releases are an excellent form of FREE advertising that can reach an extraordinary amount of people. Craigslist does this daily.

Although I have not done press releases as of yet (yet I say!), I wanted to get this to you…

Whenever you’re trying to generate interest in a business event, one of the first things you might try is a press release.

When published, it amounts to free advertising, and can be more effective than an ad due to the credibility of appearing as a news article.

But you don’t have to limit yourself to newspapers when it comes to press releases.

According to The Marketing Report, the huge classified ad site, Craigslist.org is an excellent place for your press release.
