  • You CANNOT Link Away From An eBay Auction! Or Can You?…..All Legal Too

video.jpgvideo.jpgeBay sellers have longed to be able to link away from auctions to websites…now they just may. If eBay is in your marketing plan, or even if it’s not you’ll want to see this…it will be! LOL

One of eBays biggest “NO NO’S” (if not THE biggest), is that you’re not allowed to place links to outside sites/products within a live auction. This still remains very true…for the most part.

However, eBay expert Dave Guindon recently discovered a huge loophole right in eBay’s own help documents that allow eBay sellers to add clickable links to any auction that leads to any website outside of eBay.

He made a very neat little video showing you the method, step by step. If you’re an eBay seller, big or small, or even plan to be; then you must watch this video. It could double, triple or even quadruple your profits.

It will be 12 minutes very well spent!

Btw, this is a prime example of excellent quick and to the point video marketing ;)

    Never stop pushing forward!
    Dennis

Yes, this helps a lot with traffic. I run an ecommerce site for my day job. I realized we were getting hits from Ebay one day. Then I realized that Ebay sellers were using our site as an example of the regular price of an item. So we started running our own auctions, using links to our site to show the normal price of an item.
      It works.
And they used to allow links to a more detailed description. So what you do is buy an Ipod and sell it for a loss with a $1 starting bid to get a lot of eyeballs to the auction. Then you link to “details” that happens to be your affiliate link or a landing page on your site that links to the affiliate link. When the auction is over, you will have a lot of losers that still might need an Ipod and your link may be the closet route especially if you found the best non-Ebay price. :D

Excellent work Stephan! As long as we follow the rules, there’s no stopping it…just hope they don’t fill in the loophole that they created in the first place :-)

      Holy c**p!!

But, don’t you think Ebay would see people blogging about it and somehow find a way to close the loophole?

      Cheers,
      Alex

You can say crap here LOL.

No, I’m not too worried about it. The “no outbound links” rule has been in place since day 1 (as far as I know) and its strictly enforced on a daily basis it seems like. They obviously consider this a different and acceptable scenario.

Of course, I could check tomorrow to see this gone :-)

Ya know, I’m a subscriber of Dave Guindon, but receive way too many promos from certain marketers, and consequently lose out on important information, as I tend to open very few of them.

Thanks for bringing this glittering nugget to our attention! ;-)

    9. Dennis Says:

Thank you Layne, and you’re welcome! This is exactly why I’m here :)

Thanks for dropping by, hope to see you again. Definitely let us know if you try it and how it works out for you :-)

Pitting your site against eBay is a superb technique for helping your online marketing profits increase! I did that quite a lot when I was selling ebooks online.

I don’t know if I would say “pitting against”, but they do hold some mighty awesome leverage to use. ;)

Thanks for dropping by Barbara, hope to see you again :-)

    12. Tiffany Says:

Thanks so much for this info! I’m trying it out! For just a listing fee I’ll have an “ad” in one of the biggest marketplaces online.

      I can’t beat that!

In a way Tiff, that’s exactly right…you want to be a lot more covert then an actual ad though, as the video states :-)

    14. Craig Says:

Well I don’t see anything wrong with that. Just making the most of Ebay’s system. Work it for everything its worth I say. Think I’ll go ahead and try this.
