  • Have You Given To Haitian Relief?

I read a LOT of blogs throughout any given week and to be honest, I am SHOCKED to say the least at how few are writing about the recent catastrophe. The 7.0 earthquake…anyone? anyone? Not to mention the 30 or more 5.0 aftershocks; strong enough to be individual quakes themselves…

Anyway, are you one of the many kind souls to donate to the relief efforts? I’m proud to say I am; $100 dollars worth to the Doctors Without Borders group in Haiti. This is a lot of money to a lot of people, including me. If I hadn’t recently come into a good chunk of change, I wouldn’t have been able to do it either.

I’m not going into a big long speal here, but if you have 5 10 20 or any amount of dollars, I’m sure they would be most grateful.

If you would like to give through the DWB group as I have, simply click the banner to the right and follow the simple steps. If not, then please read the extensive post over at Ms. Freeman’s place, Freeman Legacy LLC, entitled A Plea On Behalf of Haiti. You’ll find many links to legitimate organizations accepting donations, as well as good advice on how to avoid scammers.

    Don’t forget, it’s tax deductible. ;)

I donated to the Red Cross. It’s one of the few that I trust to get aid to those who need it in the fastest manner possible. Doctors without Borders is also an excellent organization.

I have not blogged about it, but I did give some money via the local news station. Really a terrible tragedy.

I haven’t blogged about it either, and sad to say, haven’t donated any money yet. I keep seeing the number you can text to automatically donate $10, and I was thinking of going that route. I just get weary of donation scams.

My heart does go out to everyone involved.

Yessir, I donated a little something last week to a relief fund set up by the Jewish federation in Boston, with a 2-way split per https://secure.ujcfederations.org/ft2/form.html?__id=18709

@Ari Herzog, I clicked the link and got an error page. What do you mean by two way split?

@Dennis Edell, Weird, link works for me. Maybe it’s cookie based.

In any case, yeah, the Jewish federation in Boston is Combined Jewish Philanthropies and they established a Haiti relief fund with 100% of donations to be split between the Boston-based Partners in Health and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.

That’s awesome that you donated $100. Giving back is always a good thing, whether it’s $1 or $100, 1 hour or 40 hours. Every bit helps!

      Dennis Edell Reply:

@Gabe | freebloghelp.com, Exactly right my friend. I was elated to finally be in a position to make a good size donation. In the past, and even now, I’ll still give 5-10 or whatever when I can.

    9. Jaq @ Net Age Web Design Says:

What is even more shocking are the stories of 15,000 US troops being rushed in, but they are not pulling people out of the rubble or helping save lives, they are policing things and keeping people from gettring aid, just like when Katrina happened. What is wrong with this crazy world we live in?

      Dennis Edell Reply:

@Jaq @ Net Age Web Design, I’m sure the policing is necessary, but what do you mean keeping people from getting aid; how are they doing that?

    10. Dragon Blogger Says:

I am donating my SocialSpark earnings to Haiti relief, as my day job budget is always in the red. I am hoping to reach at least $50 in donations by the end of the month.
