I’m Unsubscribing From Your Blog…..Again
A very fast post. It’s that time again; revamping/streamlining my commenting system.
Some if not most will make it once again to the final cut, not all though, sorry.

That is very cool. About 7-10 days ago, I unsubscribed from over 200 blogs I had subscribed to and started fresh…beginning with people who commented on my blog, and people who comment on their blogs, etc….which led me to you in the first place.

I must admit that I don’t subscribe to any blogs. If I do, it’s purely by accident. I’ve never really used an RSS reader and don’t want to start. It’s too time consuming.
I prefer to just check out someones blog if they’ve left a comment on my blog.

@Paula from Affiliate Blog Online,
Oh no no no! What can we do to reverse that?
Blog commenting is not only one of the best ways to connect with your fellow bloggers and those in your niche, but it will also bring you a LOT more comments on your own blogs, over time.
I must ask though, how do you accidentally subscribe to a blog?

I can still comment on blogs without subscribing to them.
To me, connecting with fellow bloggers in my niche is great and also getting more comments is great but in terms of making a living from it, that’s not where the money is.
What you are doing when you attract bloggers in your niche is attract people who are doing exactly the same thing as you - ie they are trying to get people to leave comments or they are there to network for some possible future benefit. They are not the ones looking for a product to buy. So it takes a hell of a lot of people to start making a decent income from it all. A lot more work than I am willing to put in.
I prefer to attract people whose sole purpose for being on the net that day is to look for a specific product to buy. This is why blog commenting is not where I spend my time.

@Paula from Affiliate Blog Online,
That all depends on the niche you’re in.
That aside though, I’m going to dismantle this comment for a second and ask one question - did you say there is no money in connecting with fellow bloggers?
If so, there is an article to write…maybe an ebook. lol

Oh no, don’t get me wrong. There is money in connecting with fellow bloggers but for me it is a lot more work connecting with fellow bloggers than going straight for people who are in the mood to buy. The conversion rate for me is much better.

Hey, no need to apologize. You have to make your RSS reader valuable for you first, otherwise it won’t matter to the bloggers you subscribe to as you would never get to their posts anyway. I had to clean out and reorganize mine recently so that the people whose blogs I really didn’t want to miss out on were not squashed below a lot of blogs I no longer read. Good luck organizing!

@Dennis Edell, Email I find is easier… I have a lot of my subscriptions filtered, and whenever I’m in the mood, I check out that particular folder. This way my inbox isn’t too overloaded, and if I realize I’ve skipped over the same subscription time and time again, I know that it’s time to unsubscribe.

I use a mixture of my RSS reader page on Google and email. Once the RSS reader page is full of widgets I sort it from best to, well, not best. Those at the top get more attention while those feeds that are dead or boring, or both
get trimmed from the bottom to make room for more.
Email is a good as it triggers action and you can usually preview the post to see if it is worth visiting the site.
No more than 20 all up though as any more and I have no time left in the day for me.

@Dennis Edell, I don’t know how anyone can do 200 blogs though!!! That would take me a week just to read them and comment (if required). Then there would be 6 more days worth of posts that would take another week, then there would be … you get the picture.
Maybe others are faster readers.

Honestly, it’s not as bad as all that, especially once you get into a good groove.
You do get faster, at both reading and writing comments, surprisingly without losing quality. Also, not many, in fact very few, post daily no matter what their goals are.
