A Quick List Maintenance Tip
![]()
Your lists are your LIVILIHOOD! Care for them greatly. The following is the simplest yet one of the most important tips you could follow. It’s also one that most list owners just plum forget about…
I realize telling you to always use spell check might seem like an obvious no-brainer, but many still don’t do it, among other things…
Now that that’s outa the way, here’s a little tip that’s just as important, if not more so…Always put yourself on your own list!
It may sound silly, but among other things, it enables you to catch things quickly that you may not notice otherwise. For instance…
Last February I just sent a quick Happy Mothers Day email to my list (and no, I didn’t tack on some cheesy sale to “celebrate” it), but what I did do is I wrote “If you’re celebrating the day with your mom like I am, wish here a great one for me!
Whoops! *blush* Yea, that wasn’t good. I wrote it kinda quick and since technically it wasn’t spelled wrong, the spell check didn’t catch it.
Sooo, always add yourself to your lists AND send an apology for any mistakes you find, as this shows that you’re on the ball! OK, that was 3 tips
Never stop pushing forward!
Dennis

I’ve been guilty of the Freudian typo as well and ufortunately haven’t caught them until AFTER hitting the ’send’ button.
I usually have my signature file predone for my emails, but it’s not always available in every situation. Take blogs for instance.
I always sign off with:
Best Regards, Jennifer
However, if I’m typing too fast or not paying close attention, it can become:
“Beast Regards”
“Best Retards”
or worse, “Beast Retards”
Best Regards,
Jennifer

Oh my yes, they can bite you can’t they!
I hope you send an apology follow-up, especially on the last 2.

OH YES. Apologies go out quickly. Although the “no problem” responses are usually delayed long enough for the recipient to stop laughing!

It IS an awesome tool indeed. Now if there was an oops checker, I wouldn’t be so paranoid

my friend just had 1000 business cards printed and proudly showed me one of them.
I noticed that he had a spelling mistake straight away - “consultent” and he nearly peed his pants!
lol!

I really should have added biz cards and fliers and such to the list; you see it so often!
Thanks for the comment
