Photo caption “To Blog Or Not To Blog, That Is The Question” and that was my question here. Against my better judgement as stated in other posts, I have decided that a Blogging category IS needed here, but for very specific reasons only…

Hello all, I had to do it. I did state rather clearly that we will not discuss Blogging on this Blog. However, since THIS Blog IS a Blog I do need a category to place certain posts regarding THIS Blog.

OK, that was fun to write but it may not have made a lot of sense :-) feel free to leave any comments or questions below; I answer all.

This category may or may not contain much over time, as it will pertain only to specific details regarding THIS Blog only; hence the name D.S.W.M. Blogging.

For those direct sellers who wish to get into this awesome field, please be patient as we build our house over at Elementary Blogging. (Please click & read above link first.)

    To our mutual success!
    Dennis

      Hi Dennis :)

I will certainly be interested in reading more in this category! And awaiting your ‘elementary blogging’ site with great anticipation - had a quick look! And - Yes - perhaps you guessed it - its Megan here - subscriber of Caroline-Middlebrook.com blog!

You responded to my comment on her site, and got my ‘attention’ - so I replied to your comment on Caroline’s blog! - and now I am here! (Caroline’s article - ‘do you have a blog commenting strategy’ ) - so the ’strategy’ clearly worked - hee hee (although wasn’t originally intended as a ’strategy’ per se! - just love to write and to comment when I find places/topics of interest - but yes - blog comment strategies are valuable and effective as we/I have just discovered!
But I digress - is this going to be a trademark of my comments?!?!

So now I am having a look around your site, and I must say, I am glad I did - I am really pleased you responded to my comment - because now I have discovered another site of great value! ahhh - I’m going to have to spend a LOT of time culling many of my other blogs. When I started entering the blogosphere, I was bookmarking/subscribing to virtually all blogs that got my interest - but now have to be wise and only keep to the best for time’s sake.

So far, I am really loving your site and content - although I have still much to explore. Truly, you blog is great, being targeted for beginners to intermediate too - so many blogs make too many assumptions (and great stuff, learning more about ebay!) - so will be back and subscribe too of course. And will go join your bloglog communities too “-)

      Thanks Dennis!
      Warm Regards

      Hi Megan!

Another awesome comment, I truly love you’re enthusiasm and excitement to learn! This will take you far, I promise you that :)

Thank you so much for all the lovely compliments, it’s GREATLY appreciated! I just hope I can live up to it all :-)

Blog commenting is an awesome promotional tool and keeps getting better as people add certain plugins for the link love. You definitely do need a *strategy* of some sort though, as it WILL get overwhelming after a while….you’ll be culling blogs on a regular basis, but that will only make you more effective!

I’ll be revealing my own strategy sometime soon ;)

“so many blogs make too many assumptions”

This is exactly what I’m trying to avoid, because i know exactly what you mean. So many claim to be for the newbie-beginner, but they all seem to start between step 2-3, if you know what I mean.

The main ‘problem’ lies in the fact that they’ve all been in it 5 or more years and may not truly remember the VERY BEGINNING and tend to take certain things for granted as “everyone knows this part”…make sense?

I haven’t been in nearly as long, so I remember all the struggles :-) and still go through many.

Due to this, I like to write in the manner of “as I learn, you learn”, if that makes sense lol. I hope to learn as much from my readers as they learn from me, which is why I love feedback. If there is ever anything that I missed or skipped, please let me know…if I screw up too badly, I’ll change the article some…whatever works.

I’m creating 4 more “elementary” blogs, so I will have a mini network of beginner-intermediate starting with this one :-)

I look forward to lots more input from you!

      Dennis

P.S. Please contact me at admin@dennisedell.com so I can explain why I took out your PS…..no worries, I think you’re gonna like the reason why ;)

P.P.S - @Caroline - Megan wrote your name, I linked it in editing. You certainly deserve a link-back for bringing us together, thanks!

    3. WebDiggin Says:

I never really thought about it until Megan’s post, by another aspect of a commenting strategy is leaving comments on blogs that you enjoy to find like-minded bloggers.

I guess that sort of thing happens over time - you might leave comments in your travels, but we tend to leave more comments on the ones who leave engaging comments on your own site, or the blogs that really captivate you.

Then, it makes sense that other like minded bloggers who read similar blogs will eventually find you. Hmm. Food for thought.

I need to figure out a time-management strategy for everything I do online. Right now, I’m just doing stuff and having trouble trying to juggle various projects, visiting blogs, commenting, etc.

(btw, Dennis, looking forward to your contest in your top left box…)

WebDiggin’s last blog post..Is your RSS Feed Working Properly?

    4. Dennis Says:

The attempt to find like-minded bloggers should be one of the main reasons to comment (right under truly enjoying the post itself)…if we do it purely for a backlink or whatever, the insincerity will show in the comment itself.

You’re 100% correct, the more we travel and comment, the more “familiar faces” we will see, which is good for everyone. All sorts of good things can come out of that :)

Time-Management…oh my friend, don’t EVEN get me rollin’ on that LOL. Although things are slowly coming together in that area as I start devising specific strategies in different areas that I do consistently

      Posting, commenting, etc.

    5. Megan Says:

      Hi Dennis

Just popped in to let you know that I haven’t disappeared into cyberspace! As noted in my comment above, I wanted to explore your site more! and more! :-)

And you also asked me to email you.

I am sooo sorry for the delay - I will email you properly shortly - and I have a question to ask you
      :-)

My excuse for disappearance - he hee!
I had eye surgery 2 weeks ago (nearly blind from cataracts - incurable illness, complication) - but can now see - yahoo, with glasses :-)
And then got quite ill. ‘bu…er’!

Thus, have been really worried about not being able to contact you. I didn’t want you to think I was a ‘fly-by-nighter’! - and of course, I wanted to make more comments on your site (and sites coming soon - again, looking forward to this!).

Anyway - I am writing this here - because I ‘am’ here! :-)
And not in email software (eek - going to be lots to download, so I thought it would be quicker to drop you a note here for now - hope this is ok.

You can moderate it of course?
      But - yes - I am here :-)
Hoping to be around with that ‘ol’ enthusiasm for long time!! ;-)
(and if I do disappear - its just my illness getting in the way a bit - a tad frustrating - but hopefully, going into remission soon! Keep fingers crossed. It WILL happen, as I need to earn a living online due to illness - as freelance writer, blogging, resell rights and more! (fortunately I have a passion for it too!) - perhaps my illness was a blessing in disguise! No more day job (although that was a bit devastating losing it) - but - THE WORLD IS OPEN AND NEW NOW THOUGH :-) Lots of goals - too many in fact!

Oh golly wolly! I am digressing again - yes, a trademark of my comments! must remember not to do this - eek!

Well - its late here… perhaps off to bed, or perhaps read some more on your blog.
maybe try the emails tomorrow! So - will be in touch soon, tomorrow I hope!

      Warm Regards
      Meg

PS I started a ‘resell rights’ blog ages ago, but haven’t posted for some time now, as I didn’t really have the experience at the time - and now have lots of other goals. I was planning on turning it into more of a ‘resource’ for people (it also focuses on web2.0). But may now move some of the posts/resources to planned new blog, similiar to Caroline’s about a diary of her online journey, which I have also been planning for a long time - just afraid of setting up WP blogs - eek! have my own domains - no more blogger for me!

If you are interested, its at http://megsmartresources.blogspot.com
      - “Resellers Delight & Web 2.0 Marketing” (just in case - perhaps we could combine our resources and great minds?!?! just a thought :-)

And PPS … time management - AHHHHHHHHHH!
:-) I heard somewhere that it is impossible to ‘manage time’ per se. We can only manage ‘ourselves’.! Its happening :-) Have you noticed all of the ‘productivity-type blogs’ out there, growing by the minute! ;-)

.. one more PPPS(!) - I truly love with your philosophy of - “as I learn, you learn” - completely agree. Wonderful :-)
(and I don’t think you will have a hard time living up to any ‘expectations’ btw. Again, looking forward to the elementary blogging series!)

    6. Megan McCarthy Says:

… oops, forgot to mention re: your philosophy - “as I learn, you learn” … that I also hope to learn much from my readers and comments too, when I get them :-) I spend a lot of time reading the comments, in addition to postings. I think people sometimes skim over these and miss a valuable resource! had enough of me yet!
      :-)

      Good golly Miss Megan! LOL

I did wonder a bit what happen ed to you, but I wasn’t thinking bad thought, I know you didn’t desert me ;)

I’m real glad your eyes are better and very sorry to hear of your illness, I hope things are better real soon!

We can discuss your goals anytime, through email, messenger or whatever :-)

I briefly checked out your RR blog, and it looks good. I’ll wait however for the move to WP to get deeper into it…..one of my main peeves with blogger is the 40+page scroll sometimes lol.

    8. Dennis Says:

You’re quite right about comments and how most people miss valuable info within.

If the post engages many comments, they can contain just as much of not MORE info then the post itself!

I know I’ve come up with entire posts, just from the comments of others ;)

    9. Megan McCarthy Says:

      Hi again Dennis :-D

I’m back here! (just still haven’t the courage to download all those emails!) - just wanted to see if you had received comments - and THANK YOU for not thinking bad of me
      :-)

(BTW - I don’t mind if you moderate this - as this thread is turning into a private discussion!!!)
      LOL

Would love to keep in contact more, when/if you would like - discuss both our online experiences!!!!
And thanks for comment about Resell Blog - yes, is a pain scrolling through blogger - hence move to WP. I hope WP is not too difficult to setup with all the plugins and finding good themes - really looking forward to it though…

hence - why I am also looking forward to your ‘blogging’ series :-)
      hee hee

Email me anytime. Skype: megan.e.mccarthy or
