New Category - D.S.W.M. Updates
Just a quick almost useless post today. Certainly not to detract from my last post on Google getting sued, which seems to be gaining popularity (shocker, eh?). I say almost as some may find it quite useful, eventually anyway.
D.S.W.M. is where you will find anything related to this blog and this blog only. Any news regarding this blog that I think you’d like to know, or should know…..Policies, Updates, Upgrades, Contests (pertaining just to this blog) like monthly top commenter, how to improve this blog (re-read as things have changed) or whatever; you get the gist.
This category may fill up nicely over the coming weeks & months with the work I’m getting too.
That’s it! Enjoy your prosperous day!
Dennis

Dennis,
Hey man, wow- you’ve plenty going on here. I think this may be my first time visiting your site. The benefits of commenting on other sites. It should compel the person to return the kind deed (exceptions). With mid-terms approaching and life demanding what life demands, I’ll try to keep up with your site as best as I possibly can.

@Matty Byloos,
No worries. What I’m doing first is inside work; not easily reviewed anyway. I’m expecting most will comment on different theme aspects I should change.

Not a bad idea. I think categories about site specific updates are good for people looking to find tips on improving their blogging site. I have one called Blog Updates, but I haven’t updated it in awhile. Which reminds me… maybe I should.

@Kikolani, Thank you! Damn I knew it was missing a little something. Now, DSWM Updates lol…much better.
March 10th, 2009 at 5:13 am
DSWM is great for regular visitors to the site, but as soon as this post becomes history, DSWM will just become a mystery button because no one will know what it means or is for. If the intention is to get new visitors to also brows the category, I think the title needs to be more meaningful.

@khaled, I changed it to DSWM Updates. That’s the best I can think of without making it too looong.
March 10th, 2009 at 8:32 am
Nice idea… the only thing I would consider doing is making it a page in your NAV bar and have sub pages under DSWM.
That way it wouldn’t get as lost in the mix…

@Jake, A great idea for sure. The problem is, I’m already having issues fitting all the pages I want in the Nav bar lol.

@Dennis Edell, I hear ya.. i have that problem on several of my sites.. maybe move the Archive to a side bar widget? dunno, just thinking out loud ha

@Jake, I thought about it but sidebar space is much to valuable for something that gets little attention. Besides I love the clean look of the plugin I use and it can only be used as a page.

I have a question for you specifically about this blog. Do you have any ideas on why your Technorati rating is so high? I just traveled here from there and see you’re at 161 which is not bad at all. Any tips for the rest of us? Thanks.

@Ben Pei, Yes, do tell Ben Pei. We ALL want to know. It wouldn’t be a bad idea for us to all do a post on Technorati. Even though it isn’t the power influence it once was it is still being used and does send traffic.
I believe that Technorati rankings are based on incoming links from other blogs that have been added or claimed at Technorati. The higher THEIR rating the more valuable the link. If we all join we’ll all see increased rankings and more traffic.
Technorati is or at least was extremely popular with SEO bloggers but less well known by others.

@GrowMap,
Actually there is no secret that I know of. The understanding I have is basically what you wrote elsewhere; incoming links.
The one trick I do know is those links only last for 6 months, which is why you always see the ranking go up and down…you have to keep bringing them in.

Trying to hit the big time? I just came from Garry Conn’s blog and saw a huge banner for this site in the right sidebar. What’s the scoop? Spending your hard-earned money on advertising or did you win that spot? (Feel free to say MYOB if that applies.)
