Who Will Be My First Top Commenter? Subscribe Now! ;)
YES a special super-duper treat for my regular readers and especially email subscribers. A Top Commenter plugin prominently displayed and cash contests (possibly more) every month!
A bunch of you have wondered and asked why I haven’t installed the plugin before now (especially since link love seems to be my thing). The fact of the matter is, I’ve held off for a while to be sure I had what I consider to be consistent/decent traffic.
Seriously, top commenter contests are a little, well…..lame, with 20 subscribers and 50 visitors per week; don’tcha think?
I will be having a top commenter contest every month starting on the 1st of each month, starting Thursday, January 1st. Just easier that way, ain’t it? Makes sense to me 
.
I guarantee at least $10 via Paypal (possibly more stuff) towards 1st place every month from me. Other then that, I’m not sure what, if any, additional prizes there will be, or how many winners from month to month, but it should be lots of fun!

Now I said above, “especially email subscribers“. This wasn’t to make anyone feel bad, but it makes sense for a couple reasons…
1. Email subscribers are assured to never miss a post to comment on. I’d venture a guess that most (if not all?) of you check email more often then your feed reader. I know that’s why I always subscribe via email.
2. First place will get an extra (undisclosed) treat each month if he/she is subscribed via email.
The are only TWO rules:
1. The same commenter can not win 1st place two consecutive months in a row. If the same person is in first place at the end of a consecutive month, he/she automatically switches with 2nd place. Thanks to Mr. Javo for this awesome tip.
Remember, some months may have multiple winners.
2. “Human Spam” - crappy, useless, provides nothing for anyone garbage comments, will be closely monitored and deleted.
Helpful optional tips for your maximum benefit:
1. Subscribe via email (benefits described above).
2. Memorize the Comment Policy. Not optional. I’m so not kidding.
3. You’re allowed to comment on ANY post within the blog, not just the new ones.
4. Offer to sponsor a prize. As mentioned above, this gives your business extra promotion (these contests are also promoted on EasyCashContests as long as there is cash involved). Contact me.
The plugin will be visible Thursday morning after midnight.
Anyone that finds it within there heart to blog/share/twitter (whatever) this post, will be forever in my good graces

I get more visitors than that, but I don’t tend to attract many commenters. I still leave on the number of comments, because I think people may be more motivated to leave comments if they realize they’ll be listed in the “top” with only a half dozen notes!

Ok Dennis i will watch out for the email. I just finished posting video number 22 and only have 30 more to go.
Also started posting a transcript with each video so now need to go throught the previous ones and add the transcript to them as well.

Funny you say that Shirley; I had to tweak the widget a bit to not include my name lol. I have more tweaking to do though. Right now, no one named Dennis is going to get through.
Actually it depends on a couple factors. The biggest one being, more often then not, my replies are somewhat detailed and I give full attention to each one.
Among other things, this way those that subscribe to comments see their name up top. Otherwise they may not bother scrolling.
If there are consecutive short and sweet responses I’ll usually use the @ symbol and go for them all at once.

Andrea - Honestly? I could be wrong, but I wouldn’t suggest that until you have some regular, consistent, decent readers/commenters.
I’m thinkin’ this would just bring in the crappy spammy comments as they may think you’ll accept anything.
Like I said, I could be wrong. You could try it for a month or two and see what happens.

@Dennis in regards to tweaking the widget to not include you in the top commentators list, you should try and have it filter by your email address rather than name, that way someone named Dennis with a different email address will still be able to be included
