Oct.’08 Post Round-Up for Direct Sales Web Marketing

Happy Halloween! Past Present or Future, depending when you read this; I won’t be posting tomorrow ;)

I realize I promised this to be a monthly thing here when I started it in June, sorry about that.

With so many things happening, not the least of which, my sudden yet unavoidable 2 month disappearance, it just hasn’t happened…I’ll try much harder from here on ;)

For those too lazy, hehe, to click the link above, this is where at the end of each month I do a round up of the best of the best posted here during that month.

Just in case you missed or forgot anything juicy ;) Now let’s dig into those archives! (All links should open in a new window.)

    JULY (Slow month)

    1. A very popular tip for bloggers regarding comments. Ranking heavy-weight in most popular posts!

Do Advertisers Judge You By Design? What Do You Think…

A quickie post today, but one that raises a pretty good question I think.

Mark Sierra from MeandMyDrum.com recently changed his theme design. It looks great, it really does, but it was one of his comments that really caught my attention…

BloggerContests commented, and I quote ” I think you will have more requests to display ads in your site from now on.”

Hmm, interesting. I know that’s something that I never really thought of before. I mean, I do know they look at traffic numbers, readership/subscriber numbers, etc and so forth.

But design? Really? I dunno. I’ve seen some pretty fugly blogs with some pretty serious numbers, haven’t you? (Unless of course they’re faked, which is a whole ‘nother article :-) )

What do you think. Could design attract or repel an advertiser?

    Never stop pushing forward!
    Dennis

You Have Spoken - I Have Listened. We Will Have Us An All-In-One Blog Again.

MarketingMarketingI have spent a lot of time talking to a great many of you since I declared that I was tightening focus and splitting into a network of “elementary” Blogs.

My friend Katy Castro recently wrote about transitioning a niche blog, and one of the main points was Communicating With Readers, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing.

Through comments, emails, messenger chat, and even phone conversations, the majority percentage of you really did not like the idea.

You were afraid I may ignore the other aspects, not cover them as thoroughly as I should or once did, etc etc. I can assure you this would not have been the case.

However, what’s the #1 rule for ANY business? Listen To Your People. (A slightly less obnoxious way to say “the customer is always right”.) It is very true.

Whether they are website/blog readers, customers, clients, or whatever…without them you have NOTHING.
