Blog Comment Tip: Add A CommentLuv Link With No Plugin (sneaky!)

Three things to not forget - Guest bloggers wanted. Top Commenter contest March. $100 Blog Improvement Review Contest.

    ——————————————-

First things first - if you’re a daily coder type person, then this will be obvious. However if code is your nemesis (arch enemy), then you may not have known this and find it kinda cool…

Would you like to freak out a fellow blogger who does not have the CommentLuv plugin installed on their blog? Hehehe. I was recently editing my typos on someones blog using their nifty edit comments plugin and noticed the code for my CommentLuv link:

    <abbr><em>Dennis Edell´s last blog post..<a href=”http://www.directsaleswebmarketing.com/best-blog-improvement-review-contest-1-winner-100-via-paypal/”>Best “Blog Improvement Review” Contest - 1 Winner - $100 via Paypal</a></abbr></em>

Being one of those that is learning code slowly but surely I asked myself if this would work anywhere HTML works; as you can see, it does:

    Google-Feedburner/CommentLuv Snafu - The Solution

Have you been experiencing the same issues I have? For the past week or two or more I’ve been bitchin’ all over the sphere about bloggers CommentLuv plugins not picking up my last post. In fact, it kept picking up the post about, Google alerts, which at the time of this writing is more then 10 posts back.

Oh yea, really frustrating. Alas! Thanks to Andy Bailey, the tireless/fearless creator of this awesome Wordpress plugin, I have the solution! And, well yea, it was my fault. Oops.

The following solution is in Andy’s words, assuming you’ve had your Feedburner feed switched to Google,

Visit commentluv.com and log in, go to the claim your site page and see if it still has your old feedburner url in the feed field. If it has, change it over and see if that does it.”

As Promised Now You Can Edit Comments Too!

Woot! Here it is! Those times of screaming Oh Crrrrrap! are gone :) .

As promised when I published the arrival of threaded comments, I have just installed the WP-Ajax-Edit Comments plugin, for users of Wordpress 2.5 or higher.

A big thank you to Sire for turning me on to this one after asking him what was compatible with commentluv. He wrote a whole post about it just for little ‘ol me! (Well, and other curious readers I suppose.)

I don’t know about others, but this plugin is awesome with a whole mess of features for both users and admin. Very cool indeed.

Anyhoo, that’s enough for the plugin sales pitch, lets get down to serious business. Hehe.

We all make comment mistakes with the slap of the forehead wishing against all hope to be able to fix it. What I want to know is, do you have a usual mistake…..one or two things that you goof on CONSTANTLY.

    UPDATED - We Will Stay Do-Follow, But…

    Lucias Linky Love is installed!

For those that have no clue what I’m talking about, please read the rest of the post and leave me your thoughts. :)

For everyone: No, I’m not going to tell you what the magic number is! Muahahahahahaha!! (But the highest number I could pick is 10)

If anyone thinks they have an issue here, please lt me know. ;)
    ——————————–

Now I realize this post and especially that header comes completely out of the blue. The reason for that is it all came to me just a couple hours ago.

I read a post on thoushallblog in which Yan discusses a conversation he had with Garry Conn.

The part that really caught my attention was Garry’s take on the effects of do-follow/no-follow within Google… it went further then the usual yadda yadda you read on the subject ALL OVER THE NET. LOL

    CommentLuv is Back! H U G E Thank You’s To It’s Tireless Creator!

    We’re back in business baby!

As it turns out, it was my Social Bookmarks plugin that did the dirty deed! Apparently it uses the scriptalicious library which is known to interfere with jquery.

I installed that just one day before installing the other 2 plugins I mentioned. After hearing this, I did go back over the comments in between and noticed only a couple had CL links attached.

I suppose it started failing immediately and ended completely around the time the other two were installed. Oops, but a good assumption at the time.

I’m not sad the other two are gone though, they were giving me issues on their own as well.

Now I have to look for another social icon plugin that does not use either scriptalicious or effects.js.

Any ideas? Ah well, I’m just happy as a clam to have my comment baby back! (I know you are too ;) )

CommentLuv Down - But Workin’ On It!

    Hello everyone,

By now some of you have begun to notice that my CommentLuv plugin is out of action. I’m sorry, I was really hoping to have it working before too long.

This is also why I haven’t responded to comments in the past day or so, which I’m going to get to right after this post; here’s what I think happened…

I installed one plugin that was meant to clearly show backlinks of what blogs were linking to what post within this blog.

Very cool I thought as it is much clearer then looking at trackbacks. I also installed a 2nd companion plugin who’s sole purpose is to help the first plugin work.

As far as I can tell, one or both of these did a serious screw job on my inner workings and took out CommentLuv…..so far I don’t see any other problems, which I suppose is a really good thing.

OK Ya Got Me - Wordpress Back-Up Plugin Is Installed…Sweet!

Well, there’s not much to add to that, except to ask several followers - happy now? I am!

Also to any other 4yo techies - get this plugin, oh my god is it super simple and works like a charm!

I have mine set to back-up once daily, as I figured every hour was a little TOO paranoid LOL.

In conclusion to what’s probably my shortest post ever, I ask…Do you back-up your blog? What do you use and how often do you use it?

    Never stop pushing forward!
    Dennis

New Feature! Link Love For Your Thoughts

As most of you should know by now, I’m always on the look out for ways to share the love with my readers and contributers (commenter’s) using different link strategies. And of course ways to help in the education of said readers.

This is after all Beginner Marketing Tips. :)

I’ve decided to combine the two in (what I think is) a unique way. Lets call it Knowledge Link Love (look for that in future subject lines).

It’s very simple. Every so often, I’ll post a question, Ex: What’s your favorite technique for…..and why; and you leave your response in the comment section.

Ya cant get much simpler then that, and you get upwards of 3 links for it!…

    1. URL field (Do-Follow)

    2. CommentLuv link if your URL is a blog.

    3. Your URL + a brief site description in a separate post after each Knowledge Link Love round.

New Feature! Monthly Post Round-Ups For Direct Sales Web Marketing

    content round-upHello all!

First, sincerest apologies for not posting in about a week. I’m still hard at work on that blog project I’ve spoken about. I’m hoping to be able to announce/launch it next week…it’s lookin’ good so far ;)

Now then, a brand new feature here starting this coming Monday, the 30th. At the beginning/end of each month I will be recapping each and every post from the previous month (or at least the best ones) with a link and small caption.

This is a little different then most of the other “link round-up” posts I see, as this is all internal. A good bunch of the ones I see are all external, wherein bloggers give the love and link-out to the posts they come across on other blogs. Also an excellent practice, which I’ll get more into another time.

Why is this something all Bloggers should consider? Just a few ideas (in no real particular order)…..
