Whoopsy Commentluv Is Busted! You Have Permission To Leave ONE Link.
Oh dear, I must first apologize for not noticing myself and thank the people that informed me. It’s unfortunately a bad combination of replying quickly and overall taking the plugin for granted…..I never even noticed. My bad.
Second, I am ECSTATIC over the fact that the broken CL has hardly diminished my comment ratio; this says A LOT about our little community here. Not only have most if not all my regulars continued commenting here, but plenty of newcomers don’t seem to care either…..thank you all for that!
In fact, that is what led to this very post. As most of you know by now, I am really trying to complete a blog move before the end of the year. Once the move is complete, all the plugins on the new blog will be updated and in perfect working order; I really don’t have time to mess with it now.
Defying my own comment policy, I am temporarily allowing each of you to leave ONE NEATLY FORMED LINK at the bottom of your comments; and it does not necessarily have to be your “last post” as Commentluv pulls. It will also be do follow
.
For a neatly formed DoFollow link with anchor text (even better then commentluv lol), use the proper HTML exactly as follows -
—————————————————————————————————-
<a href=”http://www.ridiculouslylonglink.com” target=”new”><strong>This Is The Anchor Text</strong></a>
—————————————————————————————————-
Just Replace “http://www.ridiculouslylonglink.com” with your URL and “This Is The Anchor Text” with your anchor text. Simple.
Please do not abuse this privilege. A prime example of abuse might be 20 comments all pointing to some sort of affiliate page. This won’t look good to others seeing it either.
I’ll be watching…and so will others.

It’s nice when people take the time out to tell you something is wrong with your site. Recently someone told me they couldn’t add any comments because they couldn’t read the ‘captcha’, so I removed that functionality.
Good luck on the move and don’t forget I’m here to help you in anyway.
My last post is all about building backlinks
Hope that link looks right after pressing “Submit Comment”!

@Andrew @ webuildyourblog.com,
I know. There are other problems when it comes to commenting. One is the captcha thing and I think that its function is really great. It’s just that sometimes, no one takes time to tell you that there’s something wrong. I think that there should be a clear distinction between anti-spam features and errors when it comes to dropping off a comment. Thanks for this.:)

While CommentLuv may have originally brought us together, it is each blog’s content and interaction that keeps us coming back. That is what makes our blogs different and creates our communities.
Would you rather read a famous blog with great content but where the blogger doesn’t acknowledge or reply to your comments or join a community where the bloggers and guest bloggers make time to answer your questions and visit your blog too? That is what makes us different.
Now that there are so many dofollow blogs it makes sense that we focus on consistently interacting with specific bloggers. I am diligently working on processes that will make it easier to connect regularly. I’ll share them in my blog when I get further along.
Dennis has been my most regular commentator lately and I hope many of his readers will drop by. The best way to get a feel for what I write about is to scan the categories in the right sidebar column or my Best of GrowMap post.

@GrowMap @Internet Strategist,
Nicely put and exactly why I don’t comment on the “big blogs”; that’s actually tough for me as I don’t even like to read blogs I don’t want to comment on; I read/comment on so many it seems like a waste of time, but they do have invaluable content sometimes.
Did you read this post? It was on my most popular list for like 8 months; still would be if I had more then 7.
December 1st, 2009 at 6:33 pm
That’s a great privilege you are sharing Dennis. It’s great to see that you have a community that shows you ‘love’ whether you have the CL plugin installed or not, this is a great achievement and a sign that you are building solid relationships.
I look forward to seeing you and your plugins at your new home (website) when you finally get there.
Here’s hoping that your move is as stress-free as possible.

I hope to see you around more often.

You will be seeing me around more as I put your RSS feed into my TweetMiner for extra special TLC and Tweeting!
I’m trying to become more committed to spending some time replying on blogs (I’m a major Twitter addict and this is a forced detox step - LOL).
After commenting here (and realizing after the fact that I had done my URL wrong) I hopped back over to Gabe’s site to comment on his theme immunity post and tested out the fun coolness I have learned now about CommentLuv. I did register my site there about a week ago but haven’t really figured out what all the other goodies are yet that I get with being registered there.
What other benefits do you like most about their site?
And if you ever need a VA I’d love to chat and if I can’t or don’t do something I always do my best to refer to another VA that does. One of the most awesome things about being a VA is that I can do only the work I am most passionate about!

CL site benefits? I’ll get back to you on that. He’s made some major upgrades/improvements since I was there last (first site very beginning) and I haven’t had the time to browse.

CommentLuv is one of my favorite plug-ins (and I’m the lucky one who gets to claim bragging rights as the first person ever to install it on a Blogger blog, too) - largely because it’s fun, it INVITES readers to leave a backlink, it’s EASY, and its author - Andy Bailey - is so responsive when there are problems.
But make no mistake - CommentLuv has NO bearing whatsoever on whether I comment or not.
One thing that does make a difference: Don’t make me jump through hoops to comment. (Yeah, I’m already signed up with Disqus and Blogger, so those aren’t a big deal - and I don’t mind entering my name/email/URL - but difficult captcha codes, math problems, offbeat commenting services I’m not already signed up with - those are deterrents to my leaving comments.)
The BIGGEST inducement to comment? You’re a real person and you talk to me on my blog, too.
Thanks for visiting earlier, and thank you for the kind words on my guest post at “Famous Bloggers.” I appreciate that, and I am pleased as punch you liked it enough to subscribe!

How could I NOT get the math captcha issue? I know older bloggers who can’t SEE the letters, and me - well, I’m just bad at math. I get annoyed having to do Kindergarten-level practice problems no, in my forties. The one on Blogger doesn’t bother me MUCH, because it’s pretty readable - but when it’s not, do I bother? No.
I’ll leave my comments where they feel welcome, and I try to do the same for my visitors, because I want them to feel welcome, too. One nice thing about having a self-hosted WordPress installation - .htaccess.

This is a most generous gesture from you, Dennis. I wish you all the very best with your efforts, and may you launch your new blog right on schedule! I will definitely keep on supporting you, whether you have CommentLuv working or not!
CommentLuv doesn’t pick up our articles, so it is great to finally have the opportunity to get some new eyes to our work, with this latest Net Age article on why

@Jaq @ Net Age Web Design,
Eh, no apologies necessary, you made a nice clean link. I’m thinking of making an exception on the new blog for those that for whatever reason don’t get caught by commentluv.

Just checking out the CommentLuv here, Dennis…yours is configured to show six most recent posts. What was it you thought I hacked?

@Dennis Edell, OHHHHH…that’s not a “hack,” but if you think it’s worthy of a post… saves me wracking my brain.

@Holly Jahangiri,
Ah OK qualification is needed here. I’m not a programmer/coder/hacker of any kind, quite honestly going “into” things in any way scares the living crapola outa me.
ANYTHING changed from the inside is a hack to me. LOL
Side note: for a well known expression it’s really weird…has anyone stopped to think that living crap would be just plain nasty??

@Dennis Edell, it’s a good thing I was up late and not drinking a hot beverage when I read that. We do have a few disturbingly colorful idiomatic expressions in English, don’t we?

How long are you allowing people to leave an anchor text signature? I think people will abuse that privilege and you are going to be extremely pissed! I’m really tempted to leave one here myself LOL.
